The Fairyman
May. 3rd, 2005 01:01 am *Yawns* It's late and I know I should be going to bed. But, I just don't quite feel like it I guess.
It's been pretty busy since Friday. I was on my way to Sams when I got the call from The Home Depot telling me I was clear to start working. Asking too if I could come in the next morning. That made me pretty happy. Sam and I had planned a nice evening starting with 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' followed by a rather nice dinner at the Dakota steakhouse.
The movie was pretty good though details varied from the book. I later read that the changes were the work of Douglas Addams before his death. All in all, a good movie. Go see it! The theatre itself was cool too. They show a variety of first run and 'art' films. Their prices are reasonable and they have a widely varied snack bar.
The restaurant was quite nice and the quality of the food there was excellent. We both had steaks and enjoyed the complimentary salad bar. Sam is incorrigible in public. He can't seem to resist making sure that everyone around us knows that we are 'together'. The reactions he gets are pretty funny sometimes.
After dinner he and I went back toward his home but stopped off to park for awhile. It's some of the only alone time we get. It's nice to sit there and just talk and cuddle. I tend to lose track of time when we are together and that was no exception. It was something around two in the morning before I got home and fell into bed.
The alarm rang enitrely too early on Saturday morning and I found myself at work with a bit of time to spare. Orientation was the ticket of the day and I spent the day with three other new hires getting 'indoctrinated' into the company culture. This involved watching a bunch of rather boring videos. *shrugs*
I got out of there just after 5 p.m. and gave Sam a call. We'd planned to hang out and I agreed to head over after getting some supper at home. We decided that once I was home, we'd all head over to the local mall and terrorize everyone. Everyone in this case was Josh, me, Sam, Marcella and Rich. We met after picking up Sam in front of the Hooters restaurant in the mall. As soon as we were in the door Marcella came running at Sam and jumped into his arms, wrapping her legs around him. ^_^
We spent a couple hours running around the mall looking into various shops. Places like the Discovery Channel store and Hot Topics. ^_^ It was good to see Josh having a great time amongst friends. When we left there we headed toward home before heading over to pick up Rich so he could visit with Josh awhile. While they visited, Sam and I cuddled in my room and listened to music from his iPod. Some good music on there. Also a CD from his friend Shawn. His band 'Not Quite Rebels' is pretty good and quite listenable.
Sunday came too early again as I had a meeting at Circuit City that I had to attend. *yawns* It was the usual work stuff and the high point was when my manager praised the work I'd been doing to upgrade the department. He also gave me a gift card for the store. I can easily say that this is the most recognition I have received while with this company.
After the meeting I went back to the offices with him and told him that I'd been hired by Home Depot and told him that I'd like to put in my two weeks but had planned on the store manager taking it badly. I then went on to say that if at all possible I'd like to continue on through my 'probation' period so that my benefits could continue.
He thought it might work out if they get my schedule from HD early and I told him that they put theirs out three weeks in advance of the work week. I then went on to tell him a few of the things that had been bothering me about Circuit City as a company and what I thought needed to change if the company wanted to 'make it'. The meeting went well I thought and he totally understood why I needed to move on from this job.
I finished the day in pretty good spirits and though the last couple hours was boring, I still was in a good mood. I brought home a tray of chicken wings for dinner and that was good. I spent the evening goofing around the apartment and just relaxing before going to bed early.
Then there was today... another early start and a full workday. I got my bills handled early and headed in to work. Pretty steady business so not a lot of time to be bored. Always good. Then home for a late supper and time do housework before sitting down to chat.
Well, enough for tonight... time to head to bed.
