A new month....
Jun. 1st, 2004 08:33 pmA bright, shiny, ray of hope. So... we've made it to June. Summer is here and the days are getting long.
On Thursday I finally get the van back from the shop in time to bring my own little car in. Hopefully the van will prove reliable after this. It'd be a help. I could haul shit to the dump rather than pay for it. ^_^
I spent the best part of the day getting papers notarized and dropped off with the court and copies mailed to the IDIOT lawyers. *grrrrr* Come on folks.... these guys are taking me to court to reverse something THAT NEVER HAPPENED to begin with. What an effing waste of time... and when they do get it sorted out they'll find that mom went bankrupt and they won't get a penny anyway.
I had an interesting talk with Davey last night about schools and the standards of education between when I went and what he's doing now. I looked things up later and I'll have to admit that things are a little different from when I got my Regents diploma.
The biggest thing is the de-emphasis on liberal arts. When I went to HS you'd need to take at least two art or music classes and those would be whole year classes. You'd also need four years of phy. ed.
In NY, it's now down to one year Art/Music/Theatre and two years Phys. ed. to graduate. They've also thrown in 'life studies'. I think this is a broad umbrella that covers the language requirements as well as health and social studies.
The topic I couldn't remember when we talked was English and that is also a 4 credit requirement now. Hmmm.... Do years = credits in NY?
Anyway... not too much else is new. All told, some happy news on the financial front. On the personal side? Well... I wish that I could express an opinion without touching off a difference of opinion that has a habit of getting out of hand.
*nods*
*Hugs everyone*
P.S. If everything goes well, I plan to take Josh to NYC Thursday.
